Jake Browning and Stephanie Niles are no longer engaged. According to The Knot’s report, updated June 30, 2026, they married on June 27, 2026, at Beach Club Hvar in Hvar, Croatia. Niles is a New York-based swimwear co-founder with a Seattle and University of Washington background, and she met Browning in 2018 while both were connected to the university.
Current status: married, not engaged
Searches for Browning’s “fiancée” predate the wedding. The Knot’s June 2026 coverage reports that the couple married on June 27, 2026, so Niles should be described as his wife. The Knot’s report is the most recent source on the marriage and the wedding details below. Sports Illustrated’s profile of Niles, published September 21, 2025, still uses fiancée framing, which was accurate at that time and is now out of date.
How they met and how the relationship progressed
The Knot says the two met at a University of Washington pool party in 2018. By its account, they initially made a pact to split up by the end of the summer, but the relationship continued and developed. Sports Illustrated also places their meeting at the University of Washington in 2018.

What Browning’s earlier comment shows, and what it does not
Browning has spoken publicly about Niles before. In a postgame media transcript hosted by the Cincinnati Bengals, discussing support during his early professional career, he said: “She’s been very supportive, and that’s an awesome to have, somebody very calm. That’s why I always date somebody smarter than me.”
The transcript refers to his girlfriend at the time. It is useful as background on how he has described her, but it does not establish the couple’s current status. The marriage is established by The Knot’s June 2026 report.
