Hugh Grosvenor is the 7th Duke of Westminster, a British landowner and businessman who inherited the title in 2016. He chairs the Grosvenor Trustees and the Westminster Foundation, married Olivia Henson in 2024, and became a father in 2025. His public profile also includes charitable giving, civic service and Olympic skeet shooting for Team GB.
Who is Hugh Grosvenor?
Hugh Richard Louis Grosvenor was born in 1991 and is the 7th Duke of Westminster. He succeeded to the dukedom after his father, the 6th Duke, died in 2016; he was 25 at the time. The family traces the creation of the Dukedom of Westminster to 1874, when it was granted to Hugh Lupus Grosvenor. Grosvenor’s official profile and its history of the Eaton Estate document the succession and title.
What does the Duke of Westminster do?
The dukedom is an inherited peerage title; it is separate from Grosvenor’s responsibilities in the family’s business and trust arrangements. He chairs the Grosvenor Trustees, which oversee long-term stewardship and act as legal owners of UK-resident trusts benefiting current and future family members. Their work covers commercial activities as well as the Family Office and Rural Estates. That structure means it is inaccurate to describe every asset managed through the family arrangements as Hugh Grosvenor’s personal property. Grosvenor’s explanation of the trustees’ role sets out their legal-owner status; Sky News’ 2024 account reports that major asset disposals require trustee agreement.
Why is the Grosvenor family associated with London property?
The family’s landholding history is closely linked to a marriage in 1677: Sir Thomas Grosvenor married Mary Davies, whose inheritance included land west of the City of London. Subsequent development made the Grosvenors strongly associated with Mayfair and Belgravia. The family estate also has a substantial Cheshire presence. Grosvenor identifies Eaton Hall as the family home and describes the wider Eaton Estate as including homes, offices, farms, community facilities and schools across rural Cheshire and parts of Chester.

How wealthy is Hugh Grosvenor?
Wealth figures reported about Grosvenor need to be distinguished by what they measure and when they were published.
| Figure | What it describes | Source and date |
|---|---|---|
| Just over £10 billion | A wealth estimate for Hugh Grosvenor in the 2024 Sunday Times Rich List—not an audited statement of his personal net worth. | Reported by the Associated Press on 7 June 2024: AP report. |
| £8.6 billion | The Grosvenor group’s portfolio value in 2023, not a personal-wealth estimate. | Reported by Sky News on 7 June 2024: Sky News report. |
The figures refer to different things and should not be treated as interchangeable or as a current audited personal net-worth total.
What is known about his family life?
Grosvenor married Olivia Henson at Chester Cathedral on 7 June 2024. The Associated Press reported that he is godfather to Prince George. The couple’s daughter, Cosima, was born in 2025, according to the family’s Eaton Estate history.

What are his charitable and public roles?
Grosvenor chairs the Westminster Foundation, whose work focuses in part on creating opportunities for vulnerable children and young people. His official profile says that he and his family personally gave £105 million to the Defence and National Rehabilitation Centre programme. The defence clinical rehabilitation facility near Loughborough is operational; the profile describes a National NHS specialist facility for civilians on the same site as being in development.
He was appointed Deputy Lieutenant of Cheshire in 2023. His official profile also says he represents Team GB in Olympic skeet-shooting competitions. It does not identify or endorse any particular sporting equipment.
