When did Common and Jennifer Hudson start dating?
They were linked by dating rumors in 2022, around the time they worked together on the film Breathe. Those early rumors are context, not the same as a public confirmation from the couple. Their relationship was publicly acknowledged in January 2024.

On January 22, 2024, Common appeared on The Jennifer Hudson Show. He described being in a relationship with a beautiful, smart woman who hosted her own talk show and was an EGOT winner; Hudson then said, “I’m dating as well and I am very happy.” Neither named the other in that exchange, but the remarks publicly signaled they were dating, as the Los Angeles Times reported. Common also said, “This relationship is a happy place for me … seeing her happy actually makes me really happy.”

What has Jennifer Hudson said about marriage?
Hudson said marriage has never been an automatic goal for her. “I’ve never been that girl that feels like, ‘Okay, I’ve gotta get married,’” she said in the October 2026 interview. She added that marriage, if it happens, should be something she wants: “If that comes, it comes when you want it to or if you want it to.” The interview did not report an engagement announcement.
