Art Garfunkel’s wife is Kathryn Luce Garfunkel, known as Kim. His official biography gives her maiden-era name as Kathryn Luce (“Kim”) Cermak, and says the couple married on September 18, 1988. They have two sons. The details below separate what the sources confirm from what they do not.
Who Kim Garfunkel is
Kim Garfunkel’s full name is given as Kathryn Luce Garfunkel. Art Garfunkel’s official website biography identifies her as Kathryn Luce (“Kim”) Cermak, which is the name she used before the marriage. A September 4, 2026 Guardian interview with Art Garfunkel refers to his wife as Kathryn, and its photo caption for a 2008 picture of the two of them uses the same name.
How they met
The official biography says Art met Kim Cermak at the end of 1985 while he was filming Good to Go. The Guardian’s 2026 interview independently places the meeting in 1985. In that interview, the reporter summarizes Garfunkel as saying that meeting his wife, Kathryn, in 1985 and singing were the two things that had made him happiest. That sentence is the reporter’s paraphrase, not a direct quotation from Garfunkel.
When they married
According to the official biography, Art Garfunkel and Kim married on September 18, 1988. That date comes from the artist’s own biography, which is a self-published source on his official site, so it is best read as the family’s account rather than an independently verified public record.

- Arthur Garfunkel Jr. The Garfunkel & Garfunkel album fact sheet says he was born in Manhattan in 1990 and is the first child of Kathryn and Art Garfunkel. That fact sheet is promotional material, so the 1990 birth year and Manhattan birthplace are best treated as the label’s statement.
- Beau Daniel Garfunkel. He is named in the official biography. No birth year or other detail about him is given in the sources reviewed.
Penguin Random House’s author page for Art Garfunkel says he lives in New York with his wife and two children, which matches the family structure in the official biography.
What is not established
The sources reviewed do not establish Kim Garfunkel’s exact birth date, her current age, or a detailed career history. Her name, marriage date and family role are documented, but her personal biography beyond those points is not. Readers looking for more than that should be cautious about profiles that give specific dates or career claims without citing a primary source.
