White Night (2015) earned Metacritic’s displayed score of 68 on PC and 67 on PlayStation 4. Critics often admired its noir atmosphere and striking visual style, while raising concerns about controls, camera behavior, saving, puzzles, and other mechanical rough edges. The scores are close, but the review counts differ by platform and do not establish that one version is better.
What scores did White Night receive?
Metacritic’s platform pages show these historical critic-review figures:
| Platform | Metascore | Critic reviews | Sentiment counts |
|---|---|---|---|
| PC | 68 | 16 | 8 positive, 8 mixed, 0 negative |
| PlayStation 4 | 67 | 33 | 12 positive, 20 mixed, 1 negative |
These are the figures displayed on Metacritic’s PC critic-review page and PlayStation 4 critic-review page. The listed reviews date from March and April 2015. The one-point difference between the platform scores is not evidence of a technical advantage: the pages contain different numbers of reviews, and the available record does not establish a platform winner.
What did critics praise?
The clearest strength in the review excerpts is the game’s visual identity and oppressive mood. Critics responded to its noir presentation and survival-horror atmosphere. Metacritic’s PC listing reproduces Ragequit.gr’s March 15, 2015 review as saying: “White Night practically drips with gorgeous neo-Teutonic expressionist visuals and maintains a foreboding, suffocating atmosphere not felt since the first Alone In The Dark game.” The quotation is attributed to Ragequit.gr; the listing does not identify an individual author.

What were the main criticisms?
Positive reactions to the atmosphere did not mean critics agreed on the quality of the play itself. Reservations in the available excerpts concern camera behavior and controls, saving, puzzle or game-design frustrations, and roughness in the mechanics. In practical terms, the game’s style may appeal even when its moment-to-moment handling proves frustrating.
Is White Night worth playing?
If you are drawn to stylized noir and suffocating survival horror, the critical record suggests White Night may be worth considering for its mood and presentation. If responsive controls, consistently clear camera behavior, or forgiving saving are priorities, the reported mechanical complaints are a reason to temper expectations. The reviews point to a trade-off between distinctive atmosphere and uneven execution rather than an unqualified recommendation.

What the critic scores do—and do not—tell you
Metascores summarize critics’ reviews; they do not tell every prospective player how the game will feel. Here, the platform pages preserve a 2015 critical snapshot, not a current assessment of store listings or availability. They do not verify whether the game is currently sold, which editions can be purchased, or whether a physical PlayStation 4 copy is available. Check a current retailer or platform store for those details before buying.
