Spoilers through Season 3. In the 1996 wilderness timeline, confirmed named deaths include Laura Lee, Jackie, Javi, Coach Ben, and Mari. In the present-day timeline, adult Natalie, Lottie, and Van are dead by the end of Season 3; Shauna, Taissa, and Misty are alive. The teenagers have not been rescued on screen, so the complete survivor list is still unknown.
Why the two timelines matter
Yellowjackets alternates between the New Jersey high-school soccer team’s 1996 plane crash in the Canadian wilderness and the survivors’ lives roughly 25 years later. A character’s death in one strand does not establish what happened to their teenage counterpart. Paramount describes the series as a survival epic, psychological horror story, and coming-of-age drama in its official series description.
The table separates the confirmed fates shown or established through Season 3 from outcomes that remain unresolved. Adult Natalie and teen Natalie, in particular, have different statuses.
| Character | Timeline / identity | Status through Season 3 | Context |
|---|---|---|---|
| Laura Lee | Teen; wilderness | Dead | Dies when the plane she attempts to fly for help explodes. |
| Jackie Taylor | Teen; wilderness | Dead | Freezes outside the cabin after leaving following a confrontation. |
| Javi Martinez | Teen; wilderness | Dead | Falls through the ice while helping Natalie escape a hunt and drowns. |
| Coach Ben Scott | Adult coach; wilderness | Dead | After the team holds him captive, he asks Natalie to euthanize him. |
| Mari | Teen; wilderness | Dead | Falls into the spike pit in Season 3. |
| Natalie | Adult; present day | Dead | Misty accidentally injects her with a lethal dose of phenobarbital in the Season 2 finale. |
| Natalie | Teen; wilderness | Alive at the Season 3 finale; rescue unresolved | Reaches a radio signal using a repaired satellite phone and hears an unidentified man say he can hear her. |
| Lottie | Adult; present day | Dead | Callie pushes her down the stairs. |
| Van | Adult; present day | Dead | Melissa stabs her in the chest. |
| Shauna | Adult; present day | Alive at the Season 3 finale | Her eventual fate is not established. |
| Taissa | Adult; present day | Alive at the Season 3 finale | Her eventual fate is not established. |
| Misty | Adult; present day | Alive at the Season 3 finale | Her eventual fate is not established. |
This is not a complete roll call of every person who dies in the crash or wilderness. The Season 1 account establishes that the crash kills the pilots and adults on board other than Ben; Laura Lee and Jackie die later. The table focuses on the named outcomes relevant to the question.

Who dies in the 1996 wilderness timeline?
Laura Lee and Jackie
Laura Lee tries to use an abandoned plane to get help, but it explodes after takeoff. Jackie leaves the cabin after a confrontation and freezes outside. Both deaths occur in Season 1.
Javi and Coach Ben
Javi survives away from the group for a time, then falls through the frozen lake while helping Natalie escape a hunt. He drowns. Ben’s death comes later: after the group holds him captive, he asks Natalie to euthanize him.
Rank #2
Mari
Mari dies in Season 3 when she falls into the spike pit. Her death identifies the Pit Girl fate shown earlier in the series.
Which adults are dead or alive by the Season 3 finale?
Confirmed adult deaths
- Natalie: Misty accidentally gives her a lethal phenobarbital injection in the Season 2 finale.
- Lottie: Callie pushes her down the stairs.
- Van: Melissa stabs her in the chest.
Alive at the latest episode
Shauna, Taissa, and Misty are alive at the close of Season 3. Being alive at that point does not establish what happens to them afterward.
Rank #3
Adult appearances also cannot be used as a complete rescue roster. Melissa, for example, faked her death after returning from the woods and changed her name, complicating what apparent absences or accounts can prove about who made it out.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Have the teenagers been rescued?
No rescue is shown by the end of Season 3. The teenagers remain in the wilderness; teen Natalie’s radio contact is only a possible lead. The unidentified man says he can hear her, but the scene does not establish who he is, where he is, or whether he can reach the group.
Paramount+’s 2025 Season 3 recap says the group has been stranded for 19 months and identifies “Full Circle” as the season’s finale. The remaining journey and the full list of eventual survivors have not been settled on screen. Do not treat a teen character’s lack of an adult counterpart as proof that the character died.
What to expect next
Paramount identifies Season 4 as the final season and, in its October 2, 2026 cast guide, lists a November 20, 2026 premiere date. That is a scheduled date, not an aired resolution: until the final season tells the rest of the story, the rescue outcome and complete survivor roster remain open.
