Darth Maul appears in two Star Wars feature films: Star Wars: The Phantom Menace (1999), where he is a central antagonist, and Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018), where he makes a brief surprise cameo near the end. His other appearances are in animated television series, which are not movies.

Star Wars: The Phantom Menace (1999)
This is Maul’s film debut. StarWars.com’s official synopsis describes the story this way: the heroes return to Naboo, where Anakin and the Queen face massive invasion forces while the two Jedi contend with a deadly foe named Darth Maul. He is the film’s main villain in its climactic duels, and he is the reason his character became one of the franchise’s most recognizable Sith.
Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018)
Maul returns in Solo, but only briefly. StarWars.com’s Lucas Seastrom, in a January 21, 2026 article, describes the appearance as a surprise cameo at the end of the film, in which Maul appears as a crime lord. The official sources do not give a running time for the cameo, so it should be understood as a short scene rather than a substantial role.
Where else Maul appears (not movies)
Maul’s continuing story is told in animated television series. Official StarWars.com material lists Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels among his appearances. These are series, so they do not change the film count. If you are looking for his complete on-screen history, including the shows, the television appearances are where most of his post-Phantom Menace development takes place.
