If you mean Tuesday, April 7, 2026, the premise is mistaken: CBS scheduled new episodes of both NCIS and NCIS: Origins that night. NCIS followed with another listed episode on April 14; the official information cited here does not establish the immediate next Origins episode date.
What aired on April 7, 2026?
The year matters because “April 7” alone does not identify a TV schedule. For the 2026 date, CBS listed a new NCIS episode, and Paramount/CBS announced a new NCIS: Origins episode for the same Tuesday.

What is the April 7 Origins episode about?
In “The Beautiful Ballad of Gary Callahan,” the team’s K-9 agent, Gary Callahan, is critically wounded at a crime scene. NIS works to find the person responsible, while the episode also reveals a chapter of Franks’ life from before Pendleton.

The series is a prequel following young Gibbs in the 1990s. CBS’s NCIS: Origins show page describes Mark Harmon’s return as present-day Gibbs for Season 3. That current-season information is separate from the historical April 2026 schedule.
When will the shows return?
NCIS
For NCIS, CBS listed “S.O.S.” for Tuesday, April 14, 2026, after “Knick-Knack” on April 7. So the next listed episode was one week later.

NCIS: Origins
The April 7 announcement confirms an Origins episode that Tuesday, but it does not confirm the next episode’s date. CBS’s current show page labels the series “NEW EPISODES TUESDAYS” and lists the Season 3 premiere for October 6, 2026; that later listing does not, by itself, identify the episode immediately following April 7. Check the official episode guide or network schedule for a specific next date.

A “no new episodes” notice may refer to another year, a local or regional schedule, or a different week. The verified schedule above applies specifically to the United States network listings for April 7, 2026; it should not be generalized to every April 7 or every territory.
