Spider’s biological father is Colonel Miles Quaritch, the human soldier who hunted the Sully family in Avatar: The Way of Water. His mother is named as Paz Socorro in a secondary franchise reference, although the official Avatar.com character profile does not name her. Jake and Neytiri are Spider’s family in every practical sense, but they are not his biological parents.
Spider’s biological father: Miles Quaritch
Avatar.com’s official character profile for Spider describes Quaritch as “the man that fathered him,” and the official D23 coverage of the film says it revealed Spider as Quaritch’s son. Spider is also known as Miles Socorro, a name that combines the surname of his mother with the first name of his father.

Spider’s biological mother: Paz Socorro
A secondary franchise reference identifies Spider’s biological mother as Paz Socorro. The official Avatar.com profile says both of his parents died when he was a baby, but it does not give her name. Treat “Paz Socorro” as the name supplied by that secondary reference rather than as something the official profile confirms.
What happened to his parents
According to the official character profile, both parents were killed in the Battle of the Hallelujah Mountains. Spider was too young to be sent back to Earth in cryostasis, so he stayed on Pandora. He was fostered by a human family at Hell’s Gate, the RDA base where the humans on Pandora lived.

- Jake Sully lives with his newfound family formed on the planet of Pandora. Once a familiar threat returns to finish what was previously started, Jake must work with Neytiri and the army of the Na'vi race to protect their planet.
This is the backstory that explains why Spider is on Pandora at all. It also explains why he grows up among the Na’vi and not among humans, even though his biological family was human.
Jake and Neytiri: found family, not biological parents
Spider grows up alongside the Sully children, and D23 describes him as thinking of the Sullys as family. Cameron has described Jake as “a kind of surrogate father” to Spider, in an interview with Vanity Fair. That phrasing comes from an interview transcript, not from film dialogue.

The relationship is not simple. Cameron has said Spider’s place in the family is fraught, because he is a human child raised by Na’vi parents in a world where his own kind is the enemy. In the official Avatar: Fire and Ash production notes, Cameron said of Spider: “He’s not part of the clan. He’s not part of the family.” That remark comes from a later film and describes the tension that continues after The Way of Water.

- Established by The Way of Water and official material: Quaritch is Spider’s father, and both parents died when Spider was a baby.
- Named in a secondary reference only: Paz Socorro as his mother.
- Found family, not parentage: Jake and Neytiri.
- Later-film context: Cameron’s remarks about Spider’s status in Avatar: Fire and Ash, which go beyond the second film’s story.
If you are reading about Spider’s family for the first time, the second film gives you enough to understand the relationship. The details about Paz Socorro and Cameron’s later comments are useful background, but they are not needed to answer the main question.
