Ajike “AJ” Owens’ four children have been raised by their maternal grandmother, Pamela Dias, according to public reporting through June 2026. Beyond that caregiver fact, the public record does not establish where the children live now, where they attend school, or how their days are structured. What follows separates what has been reported from what has not, and gives the timeline of the case that shaped their lives.
Who is caring for the children
Dias is the children’s grandmother. At the November 2024 sentencing of Susan Lorincz, the Associated Press reported that Dias said she was then the children’s sole caregiver and described them as deeply traumatized. A June 2, 2026 roundup of earlier reporting, republished by AOL from People, said the grandmother was still raising them three years after their mother’s death. That roundup is a secondary summary of earlier statements, not independent confirmation of day-to-day details.
What the family has said about grief
Dias has consistently framed the children’s needs around closure. Speaking to Central Florida Public Media for the first anniversary in June 2024, she said the children, then reported as ages 4 to 13, needed the case to end so they could heal. Her words:
“Every time there’s a delay,” Dias said, “the children think that maybe she’s gotten out. They need closure.”

These are the family’s own observations about what the children need. They are not clinical assessments of any individual child, and the ages above are the ages reported in June 2024, not their current ages.
Public remembrance events
At the first-anniversary gathering on June 2, 2024, two of the children danced. Dias described the event as an outlet for the family to mourn and to celebrate Ajike Owens’ life. Coverage of that event is the most direct public look at the children in the record, and it is limited to that occasion.

Several details that readers often look for are not in the reporting reviewed here:
- The children’s current city or home address.
- Their schools, routines, or activities outside the public events described above.
- Any individual treatment or counseling arrangement for each child.
- Whether the wrongful-death lawsuit has been resolved.
Those gaps are real limits on what can be said responsibly. Repeating unnamed sources or guessing at ages and locations would go beyond what has been reported.

The family’s response after sentencing
