The Traitors UK Series 5 is expected in 2027, according to trade-press reporting. As of October 2026, we could not find an official BBC announcement of an exact premiere date, month or episode-one day, so no specific start date should be treated as confirmed.

What is confirmed
The BBC has commissioned a fifth civilian series of The Traitors UK. The Royal Television Society reported in 2025 that the broadcaster confirmed a further civilian run alongside the series then in production, with Series 4 due to air in 2026. That confirmation establishes that Series 5 exists as a commissioned run. It does not establish when it will air.
Where the 2027 expectation comes from
The year-level expectation comes from Televisual’s 2026 report on the BBC’s new Traitors deal, which described the arrangement as delivering the series in annual instalments and placed Series 5 in 2027. This is an inference from the deal structure reported by a trade publication, not a scheduling announcement. It gives a year, but not a month, a day or a broadcast window.

Why Series 4’s January start is not a guide
Series 4 launched on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on 1 January 2026, as reported by RTÉ on 2 December 2025 when it relayed the BBC’s launch announcement. That is useful background on how the most recent run was scheduled, but it is a single data point. It does not confirm that Series 5 will return on New Year’s Day, in January, or at any particular point in 2027.

Filming reports
Hello Rayo reported in 2026 that filming for Series 5 was anticipated for summer or autumn 2026. This is secondary reporting, not a production statement from the BBC or the makers. Filming windows can move, and a filming report does not fix a transmission date. Treat it as one more signal that the series is in preparation, not as a timetable.
Do not confuse it with The Traitors New Blood
Searches for the show can surface The Traitors New Blood, a separately titled BBC Originals listing that refers to a season 5 with 2026 episodes. That title is distinct from the UK civilian series. Its listing does not tell you when The Traitors UK Series 5 will air, and it should not be used to date the civilian run.

How to check for an official date
- Open the BBC iPlayer page for The Traitors and look for the series listing. A confirmed run will show a series heading and episode availability.
- Search the BBC Media Centre (press site) for “The Traitors” and filter for the most recent announcements. Launch dates are normally announced in a press release there.
- Check the BBC One schedule for the relevant week once a launch is announced. Scheduled start times appear in the EPG before broadcast.
- Be cautious with fan sites, forums and aggregators that quote specific dates without a link to a BBC source. Dates published before a BBC announcement are often estimates.
What would change this answer
The answer changes when the BBC publishes a press release or iPlayer listing with a named start date. Until then, the accurate position is that 2027 is the reported expectation for Series 5, and no exact premiere has been confirmed.
