What the final season picks up
Season 5 opens after the death of JJ in Morocco. The Pogues have lost the Blue Crown, and the threats that have shadowed them return: Chandler Groff is still at large, Dalia and the Corsairs are closing in, and the Kooks are a danger to the home they have fought to keep. According to Netflix’s synopsis, John B, Sarah, Kiara, Pope, and Cleo form an uneasy alliance with Rafe as they try to avenge JJ and reclaim their future.
The alliance is the emotional engine of the season. Rafe’s place among the group is uneasy by design, and the season’s stakes are tied to grief as much as to treasure.

Netflix’s August 20 Tudum article lists the returning regulars:

Tony Crane and Cullen Moss also return and were elevated to series regulars. Netflix’s Media Center credits J. Anthony Crane as Chandler Groff and Cullen Moss as Shoupe.
Why this is the last season
The fifth season was confirmed as the final one when Netflix announced the renewal on November 4, 2024. Netflix’s Tudum coverage says the creators had planned a five-season arc of adventure, treasure hunting, and friendship from the start. Creators Jonas Pate, Josh Pate, and Shannon Burke put it this way:
“From this beginning, we imagined a mystery that would lead to a five-season journey of adventure, treasure hunting, and friendship.”
