House of the Dragon is based on Fire & Blood, but its description of Oscar’s place in the family does not match the book genealogy. In the book, Oscar is Elmo Tully’s younger son and Kermit Tully’s younger brother. The television version’s character is described as Grover’s grandson and heir to Riverrun.

What happens to Oscar in Fire & Blood?
The book history gives Oscar a later role in the Dance of the Dragons. These are events from the book account and should not be taken as confirmation that they have been depicted on screen.
- He is knighted after killing three men at the Battle of the Kingsroad.
- He is one of the Lads who marches toward King’s Landing; later, the Lads defer to Cregan Stark.
- After the Dance, he creates the Stormbreakers, a free company that leaves Westeros for the Free Cities.
The available character description establishes Oscar’s identity and succession position, not how much of this later book history the series will adapt.
