Ser Steffon Darklyn is a knight in Rhaenyra Targaryen’s faction in HBO’s House of the Dragon. How does the show differ from Fire & Blood?
The television adaptation changes who carries King Viserys’s crown to Rhaenyra. In Fire & Blood, Steffon brings her the crown; in the show, Erryk Cargyll performs that act. The Ringer’s guide notes the change. The Ringer’s comparison discusses the book and screen versions.
Steffon’s rank also differs in how it is described. In the book, he is Rhaenyra’s Queensguard lord commander. An early Season 2 guide said it was unclear whether the show gave him that exact title, while Warner Bros. Discovery’s character description calls him the commander of her Queensguard. The Ringer and Warner Bros. Discovery use those respective descriptions.
