Season 8 of 1000-lb Sisters is no longer the current season. TLC’s show page now lists Season 9, and its premiere synopsis says Amy and Tammy attempt to renew their bond while Andrea makes a drastic decision. Season 8 itself followed Amy’s planned Halloween wedding to Brian and Tammy’s recovery from skin-removal surgery, with the sisters’ conflict running through most of the season.
What Season 9 picks up
TLC’s current listing for the show includes Season 9. Its premiere synopsis sets up two threads:
- The sisters’ relationship: Amy and Tammy try to renew their bond after a Season 8 that ended with them still divided.
- Andrea’s decision: Tammy’s girlfriend faces a major choice, which TLC describes only as drastic.
The listing does not establish the Season 9 premiere date or episode count in the material available here. Check TLC’s show page for the current schedule, since listings change as episodes air.
How Season 8 set up the story
TLC announced the season on December 2, 2025, with the premiere scheduled for Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at 9/8c. The announcement framed the season around the family’s return: “Amy, Tammy, and their siblings are back for even more laughs and unforgettable moments.” Its preview and episode guide then laid out three threads.

Amy: a wedding planned around Halloween
Amy’s arc was wedding planning with Brian. The season set up an unusual Halloween celebration and a New Orleans bachelorette party as milestones on the way to the wedding. For viewers, the wedding was the season’s main deadline: the story built toward it rather than resolving it early.
Tammy: recovery and a more independent life
Tammy’s storyline began after skin-removal surgery. The season followed her adjustment to recovery and to new responsibilities, including a volunteer role at an animal shelter. TLC’s preview also says she plans to move in with her girlfriend, Andrea, which made Andrea’s life a central part of Tammy’s independence story.

What remains unclear
