Olivia Longott, known professionally as Olivia, did not stop making music after her association with 50 Cent and G-Unit ended. She parted ways with G-Unit Records in 2007, continued releasing songs through later label arrangements and independently, appeared on Love & Hip Hop: New York, and released the album You Are in 2024, according to a secondary biography. The available accounts do not establish one definitive reason her mainstream profile diminished.
How Olivia became associated with 50 Cent
Olivia’s career began before G-Unit. She became the first artist signed to Clive Davis’s J Records in 2000, and her self-titled debut album followed in 2001. One retrospective reports that “Bizounce” reached No. 15 on a chart, but does not identify the chart in the passage available; it should not be presented as a Billboard Hot 100 position without confirmation.

Olivia joined G-Unit in 2004 and became closely identified with 50 Cent through appearances on songs including “Candy Shop” and “Best Friend.” She also released “So Sexy” and “Twist It” during that period. That association gave her conspicuous exposure, but “protégé” should not be taken to mean that 50 Cent controlled her career after the partnership ended.
What changed after G-Unit
Olivia and G-Unit Records parted ways in 2007, according to a secondary career chronology. Her planned second studio album, Behind Closed Doors, was shelved; the same account says it later leaked on mixtape sites. She continued recording, including the songs “December” and “Walk Away,” and signed with Jerry Wonda’s Wonda Music in 2012.
#1 Best Overall
- Olivia Rodrigo's highly anticipated third studio album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, follows her critically acclaimed LPs GUTS and SOUR
The chronology establishes that the label relationship ended and that Olivia’s subsequent releases followed a different path. It does not establish that a particular dispute, label strategy, management decision, or television storyline caused the split or her reduced visibility. A 2009 interview whose title refers to why she left G-Unit is cited in the biography, but the interview itself was not reviewed here, so its contents cannot be treated as verified explanation.
Her music and television work continued
After G-Unit, Olivia’s career included music releases as well as television. She appeared on VH1’s Love & Hip Hop: New York, bringing her back into public view in a different setting from her earlier recording career. Reality television is one part of the chronology, not evidence on its own of why her music career took a less prominent route.
Rank #2
- Olivia Rodrigo's record-breaking, multiplatinum debut album, SOUR, was released in 2021 on Geffen Records
A secondary biography reports that Olivia released You Are on September 1, 2024, and describes it as her first album in 23 years. Those details are secondary-source claims; without an artist or label release page in the available evidence, the date and “first album” description should be understood with that qualification.
What the chart claims do—and do not—show
A retrospective reports that 50 Cent’s “Best Friend” peaked at No. 35, but the chart is not identified in the passage reviewed. The same retrospective gives “Bizounce” a No. 15 peak without naming its chart. A secondary biography reports that “December” reached No. 76 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, but that position was not checked against a direct chart record. These figures therefore do not support a broader claim about Olivia’s overall commercial success without confirmation of the chart and its methodology.

The clearest answer
Olivia moved on from G-Unit, kept releasing music through later arrangements, appeared on reality television, and, according to a secondary account, released You Are in 2024. The documented timeline answers what happened to her career; the available evidence does not pinpoint a single reason for her lower mainstream visibility.
