Latin trap and reggaetón are the clearest short answer to what kind of music Bad Bunny makes. Apple Music describes his album YHLQMDLG through both styles, and the Los Angeles Times likewise identifies trap and reggaetón in its discussion of the album.

What does “urbano” mean?
Urbano is a broad umbrella for contemporary Latin popular music, rather than one narrowly defined sound. It can include reggaetón, Latin trap, dembow and other styles. Pitchfork uses the term in this broad sense.
That means “urbano” can be useful when describing Bad Bunny’s wider musical scene, while Latin trap and reggaetón are more specific labels for his best-known styles.

Is Bad Bunny reggaetón or Latin trap?
He is associated with both. The labels are sometimes used interchangeably in casual conversation, but they refer to distinct styles. In a Berkeley interview, scholar Petra Rivera-Rideau noted that Bad Bunny’s mainstream success has contributed to people using “reggaetón” and “Latin trap” as if they mean the same thing.
So, if you need one concise description, call his music a blend of Latin trap and reggaetón. If you are describing a particular track, its sound may fit one label more clearly than the other.

How his sound moves beyond those genres
Bad Bunny’s music does not stay within a single genre. YHLQMDLG is a useful example: Apple Music describes the album as combining Latin trap and reggaetón with rock and global pop, while the Los Angeles Times also points to bachata and synthpop. Those descriptions refer to the album’s range; they do not mean every song combines all of those sounds.
Bad Bunny has also framed genre as a form of creative expression. In an interview with TIME, he said, “I think that reggaeton and all music genres are a means to express yourself.”
