There is no defensible net-worth ranking of the five men nominated for Best Actor at the 96th Academy Awards. Net worth is not a public record for these actors, and the reporting that establishes their nominations verifies their Oscar history, not their wealth. Why an exact net-worth ranking can’t be verified
Net worth is an estimate, not an audited figure
Net worth is the value of a person’s assets minus their liabilities. Actors rarely publish complete balance sheets, so any published number is an outside estimate built from partial information such as property records, reported deals, and industry assumptions. Those inputs are not audited, and two publishers can reach very different totals for the same person.

No comparable, dated estimates cover all five men
A ranking only means something if every name is measured the same way. Entertainment estimates that could be attributed to a named publisher and a date, and that cover all five nominees on a consistent basis, were not identifiable. Ordering the five men by wealth would therefore mean choosing among inconsistent guesses and presenting the result as fact.
The ranking framing describes the video, not the men
The “wealth behind the nominees” premise appears in entertainment video coverage, including a TheRichest video published March 14, 2024, which named Colman Domingo and Bradley Cooper in its description. That framing states what the publisher set out to cover. It does not establish any valuation.

What a defensible wealth estimate would need
If you encounter a net-worth list for these or any Oscar nominees, check it against the following before relying on it:
- A named publisher and a publication date, so you know how current the figure is.
- A stated method, including whether the number is gross or net of debts.
- Estimates for every person on the list drawn from the same source and method, so the order reflects the men rather than the publisher’s habits.
- An explicit statement that the figure is an estimate and has not been audited.
- No substitution of salary, box-office, or film-budget numbers, which measure income or production, not what a person owns after debts.
A list that fails any of these checks should be read as entertainment content, not as a ranking.

How the category’s nominees are chosen
The Academy’s January 23, 2024 nominations announcement explains the process: “Academy members from each of the 18 branches vote to determine the nominees in their respective categories – actors nominate actors, film editors nominate film editors, etc.” For this category, that means the nominees were selected by the actors’ branch of the membership, not by the full membership voting on all categories.
The Academy also reported that 93 countries submitted ballots, a record at the time. That figure describes Academy participation across all categories; it is not a count of Best Actor voters.
