He returns in Season 2, Episode 16, “The Mercy Seat.” That explanation is separate from the job offer given for Bobby’s later Season 3 absence.
Why was Bobby missing in Tracker Season 2?
At first, Bobby’s absence is described as being for family matters. The story later clarifies that he was attending the funeral of a close friend. Randy says the loss is hitting Bobby hard and that the two friends were like brothers. The episode-arc recap describes this explanation and Bobby’s return.

When does Bobby return?
Bobby returns in Season 2, Episode 16, “The Mercy Seat,” where he helps Randy and Colter. Paramount+’s official Season 2 episode guide lists “The Mercy Seat” as episode 16, following episode 15, “The Grey Goose.” The guide lists 20 episodes in the season.
Is the job offer the reason he was absent in Season 2?
No. The job offer is the later story explanation for Bobby’s Season 3 absence, not the reason for his Season 2 gap. In a September 2025 interview with TV Insider, showrunner Elwood Reid said Bobby had taken “an interesting job offer,” which would be addressed in the Season 3 premiere. Reid also said a return was possible, but there were no plans for the first block of that season at the time. That was a statement about plans in September 2025, not a permanent decision about future seasons. Read Reid’s interview with TV Insider.

Did Eric Graise leave Tracker?
TVLine reported in July 2025 that Eric Graise, who plays Bobby Exley, had departed the series ahead of Season 3; Abby McEnany was also reported to have departed. TVLine’s report establishes the reported cast change, but does not establish a personal or professional reason for Graise’s departure. The actor’s reported departure and Bobby’s fictional job offer are separate matters.
