In the current U.S. promotion, the official 2026 rules list every property in each Collect to Win set and publish odds for completing some of those sets, but they do not identify which individual property in a set is the scarce one. Any list that names Boardwalk, or any other property, as the rare piece for 2026 is not supported by the rules.
Start with the edition and the country
“Rare” only means something inside a specific promotion. Monopoly pieces at McDonald’s have run in different countries and years, and the rules for each one handle scarcity differently. The table below compares the three editions whose rules are relevant here.
| Promotion | What the rules say about scarcity | What this means for readers |
|---|---|---|
| U.S., 2026 (official rules) | Each set’s properties are named and completion odds are published for the combination. No individual property is identified as the limited one. | The rules do not establish a rare piece. Avoid naming one. |
| UK, 2025 (official rules) | Each set has one limited-quantity property designated “Rare Property.” The others are described as “commonly found.” | A rare piece is defined by the rules for that UK edition only. |
| Ireland, 2025 (official rules) | The number of outcomes varies by property name. The least numerous property outcome in a set corresponds, in aggregate, to the number of advertised prizes for that set. | Scarcity is described through piece counts, tied to that edition’s advertised prizes. It does not transfer to the U.S. game. |
What the 2026 U.S. rules establish
Who is eligible and when
- Eligible residents of the 50 states and Washington, D.C., age 18 or older.
- Game period: October 6 through November 1, 2026.
- Later code entry and prize claims are allowed through November 22, 2026, according to the rules’ stated deadlines.
- The Chance Card game has its own end date: November 8, 2026.
The official rules control. Confirm every deadline there before acting on it, because the dates above apply to different parts of the promotion.
How pieces are obtained and what they can win
Pieces are available with eligible items while supplies last. Players can also use the official mail-in request route, which requires no purchase. The rules state that buying items does not improve your chances of winning.

Players record pieces in the McDonald’s app by scanning or entering game-piece codes. A single piece can provide a food prize, MyMcDonald’s Rewards points, a Collect to Win property, or a play in the Chance Card game. Keep your pieces after you record them, because the sponsor may require them for verification.
The Collect to Win combinations
A Collect to Win prize requires one person to gather the complete combination in their own game account and submit a valid prize claim. The table lists the ten combinations in the 2026 U.S. rules. Published completion odds appear for only three of them; the others are marked “not stated” rather than estimated.

The rules do not say which property within any set is the scarce one, so the table cannot be read as a ranking of individual pieces.
Reading the odds correctly
The published figures measure the chance of completing an entire set. They are not the chance of receiving one named property. Holding the Park Place piece tells you nothing about the probability of getting Boardwalk, and a set-level probability cannot identify a single piece as rarer than another.

The railroad combination has the lowest published completion odds in the table, at 1 in 530,145,668,555. It also requires four pieces rather than two or three, which is part of why its figure is so much larger. That still does not reveal whether any one railroad is scarcer than the others.
The 2026 rules also state that approximately 640,591,900 game pieces are planned for distribution. That total is not broken down by property. The rules add that prizes diminish and odds change as prizes are claimed, so a published figure reflects the promotion’s design rather than a live count.

What the UK mechanics show, and what they don’t
The UK 2025 explainer describes a process that differs from the U.S. game. Players scan a physical property piece and bank a card in the UK app, and a completed set wins the corresponding Collect to Win prize. The UK rules say that rare pieces are seeded across labels under independently audited procedures. That is a description of how the UK edition was run.
It is not evidence about the U.S. 2026 game. Property names, rules and piece distribution can all change between editions, so a UK or Irish “rare” designation should never be copied into a U.S. guide.

Secondhand pieces and third-party listings
Pieces offered by third-party sellers, including online marketplace listings, are not part of the official route. A code obtained from another person does not carry a valid claim, and it does not transfer ownership of a prize under the rules. Neither the authenticity nor the current validity of a resold piece can be confirmed from a listing. Use eligible purchases or the official mail-in request route instead.
How to test any “rare piece” claim
- Does it name the country and year of the promotion? A claim without both is not usable.
- Does it quote the official rules for that edition, or only a blog or forum summary?
- Is the odd number a full-set figure, or is it presented as the chance of one piece?
- Does it name one property as limited when the rules for that edition do not?
If a claim fails any of these checks, treat it as speculation.
