The strongest public reporting places Denzel Washington’s long-term family home in Beverly Park, in the Los Angeles area. His real-estate history also includes a Toluca Lake home he sold, a Manhattan apartment and a Century City condominium reported in later coverage, and a Malibu retreat whose ownership dates are unclear. The available reporting does not establish a complete portfolio or verify what he owns today.

What is known about Denzel Washington’s Beverly Park home?

In 1996, the Los Angeles Times reported that Denzel and Pauletta Washington bought two lots in Beverly Park from Michael and Jane Eisner for close to the $6.5 million asking price. The couple planned to build a home overlooking Beverly Hills, according to the contemporaneous report. Los Angeles Times, March 10, 1996.

By December 1999, the Los Angeles Times reported that the family had moved from Toluca Lake into a newly built home in a gated Beverly Hills-area community. Los Angeles Times, December 12, 1999. Architectural Digest identified the estate as being in Beverly Park and described it as the couple’s primary residence in its November 2024 retrospective. That article reports a two-acre property with a large main house and guesthouse; it does not establish ownership as of 2026. Architectural Digest, November 22, 2024.

Which homes are part of Washington’s reported property history?

Property What reporting says Ownership evidence and limits
Toluca Lake, Los Angeles The 1999 Los Angeles Times described a 1940 Paul Williams-designed home with five bedrooms, a guest cottage, pool and cabana, and more than 6,000 square feet. Washington and Pauletta had lived there for about seven years and listed it for just under $2 million. Los Angeles Times, December 12, 1999. Former home: the Los Angeles Times reported in 2019, citing public records, that Brenda Hampton bought it from Washington in 2000 for $1.9 million. That article describes about 6,300 square feet on more than half an acre. Los Angeles Times, May 10, 2019.
Beverly Park, Los Angeles area Two lots were purchased in 1996 for close to the $6.5 million asking price, with a plan to build; the family was reported to have moved into a newly built gated-community home by 1999. The 2024 Architectural Digest article describes a two-acre estate with a main house and guesthouse. Los Angeles Times, March 10, 1996; Los Angeles Times, December 12, 1999; Architectural Digest, November 22, 2024. Strong historical purchase and move reporting; Architectural Digest described it as the couple’s primary residence in 2024. Current ownership is not independently established by those reports.
Malibu Architectural Digest reported a three-bedroom, two-bathroom retreat with ocean views, a guest house and detached gym, reportedly purchased from Captain & Tennille. Architectural Digest, November 22, 2024. Unclear: the retrospective says it is not known when Washington acquired the property or how long he held it. It does not support a claim of current ownership.
15 Central Park West, Manhattan Architectural Digest reported that the Washingtons bought an apartment in the building in 2006 for $13 million. Architectural Digest, November 22, 2024. Described by the article as previously owned. Details of their specific unit are scant, so building features or views should not be treated as confirmed features of their apartment.
Century City, Los Angeles Architectural Digest reported a 2022 purchase for $10.9 million. The article described an 8,150-square-foot unit with six bedrooms and eight bathrooms, created by combining two residences. Architectural Digest, November 22, 2024. Purchase reported retrospectively in 2024; the available reporting does not verify continued ownership or a current value.

What do the reported prices mean?

The figures are historical transaction or asking-price reports, not current valuations. The Beverly Park figure was the approximate asking price for the two lots, not a stated price for the completed estate. The Toluca Lake sale price is attributed to public records by the Los Angeles Times; the Manhattan and Century City prices are reported by Architectural Digest. None establishes what any property is worth now, and these figures do not add up to a verified current portfolio value.

Does Washington own a home in Beverly Hills?

Contemporaneous newspaper reports place the family’s 1996 lot purchase in Beverly Park and report their move in 1999 to a gated Beverly Hills-area community. Architectural Digest later identifies the estate as Beverly Park. This supports describing a home associated with Washington in the Beverly Hills area, but the sources do not establish a current, parcel-verified ownership claim as of October 2026.

Can the public verify a current property portfolio?

Not from these articles alone. A historical sale, move report or retrospective property roundup is not a complete current ownership record. The Los Angeles County Assessor provides property-search services, but its site is a general resource and does not itself connect Washington to a parcel. Los Angeles County Assessor. Public-record searches can also have limits and should not be used to infer ownership from a name match without confirming the property and record context. No current portfolio total or valuation is established by the cited coverage.
