Dolly Parton has not publicly said what she ultimately plans to do with her wedding rings or Carl Thomas Dean’s ring. She did describe wearing his ring on a little gold chain, alongside her original rings, when she visited the church where they married on the first anniversary after his death.
What Parton said she did with the rings
In a June 2025 interview with FOX News’ America Reports, Parton recalled visiting the church where she and Dean married on the first anniversary after his death. She said: “And I put his wedding ring around my little gold chain and wore it. I wore my little original wedding rings, and I just stood there.” FOX News reported the interview excerpt.
That account documents what she did on that occasion. It does not say what happened to the rings afterward or announce a future plan for them.
Which rings did Parton describe?
Her original wedding rings
In a 2024 Vogue jewelry feature, Parton recalled that she and Dean bought her first wedding ring in 1966 using his mother’s Sears credit account and paid it back. After she lost a stone, she returned to Sears for a replacement. She also described a second band engraved with their wedding date, May 30, 1966. Parton said she wore these small original rings at home; the feature does not establish where they are now. Read the Vogue feature.

The anniversary rings
Parton also described rings made for the couple’s 50th anniversary vow renewal. She said they both paid for them and recalled that her ring was a three-carat diamond. These anniversary rings are distinct from the modest original wedding rings; her account of the church visit does not say that the anniversary ring was the one she wore on the chain.
What the reported will does—and does not—tell us
An October 9, 2025, Us Weekly report based on court documents said Dean’s will addressed personal and household effects. The report described a handwritten note intended to set out who would receive those effects; if it was not found, Parton would distribute them. The article does not identify either spouse’s wedding rings, say whether the handwritten note was found, or establish a final disposition for these specific objects. The will report is estate context, not evidence that the rings were left to a named person or institution.

An Associated Press report dated October 6, 2026, says Parton’s original wedding dress is displayed at Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville. The report does not say her wedding rings are on display there. The dress exhibit should not be taken as evidence of a ring exhibit or a plan for the rings.
