A separate early-pay figure—$7,500 per episode for each original cast member—has been attributed to Variety’s 2018 reporting by Cosmopolitan. These are not the same kind of evidence: Berk described his own finances, while the per-episode amount is a secondhand report.
What Bobby Berk said he earned on Queer Eye
In comments reported by Parade from his appearance on Vivian Tu’s Networth and Chill podcast, Berk said: “First two seasons I definitely lost money on the show because they were paying us basically nothing.” He added that he “probably” broke even in seasons three and four. His wording is a qualitative account, not a disclosed salary or a precise calculation of his earnings.
Berk explained that filming kept him away from his interior-design company, which he could not run while he was on location. Parade reports that the cast spent five months away and also undertook press tours. That time commitment helps explain why he could describe the show as a financial loss even though it paid him; it does not establish a separate salary figure.
On compensation relative to scripted television, Berk said, “To be frank they never really paid us well, compared to what they pay scripted stars. We made a single digit percentage.” He did not specify the comparison base or an exact percentage, so the comment should be read as a broad comparison rather than a calculable rate.

Where the $7,500-per-episode figure comes from
Cosmopolitan reported in 2025 that Variety’s 2018 reporting put the original cast’s pay at $7,500 per episode for each member in the first two seasons. This is a figure attributed to Variety by Cosmopolitan, not a number Berk disclosed in his 2025 account. It is best described as a reported early-season rate, rather than a complete or independently verified salary history for the cast.
What is known about the five cast members’ individual pay
The original Fab Five were Antoni Porowski, Bobby Berk, Jonathan Van Ness, Karamo Brown and Tan France. The available reporting does not establish an individual, season-by-season pay record for each of them. Berk’s comments are about his own financial experience; the reported $7,500 rate applies to the original group in the first two seasons, as attributed to Variety by Cosmopolitan.

When a fan asked about residuals, Berk reportedly replied, “$0 residuals.” That answer concerns Berk personally; it is not evidence about the other cast members’ residual payments. Berk also said the show opened doors to branding and company opportunities, but those opportunities do not reveal his Queer Eye salary or establish how much the other members earned outside the series.
