As CBS News reproduced the couple’s statement: “Though our marriage is ending, we continue to have a very amicable relationship.” They also said, “Our marriage has always been a faithful one, and neither of us is assigning fault for the divorce.” CBS News reported the announcement and statement in March 2007.
What did Marie Osmond say about the decision?
In a December 2007 interview with Extra, Osmond reflected on divorce without identifying a particular incident or blaming Blosil. She said: “I don’t believe divorce is the solution for an unhappy marriage, but I do think sometimes it’s the answer when you ask questions like, ‘Am I being the best person I can be?’” She also referred to asking whether she could be the best mother she could be, and said divorce could be the right choice in such circumstances. What is known about their family?
Contemporary coverage described eight children in Osmond’s family: one child from her first marriage and seven children she shared with Blosil, including five adopted children. The total of eight should not be mistaken for eight children shared by Osmond and Blosil. People’s 2007 coverage distinguishes the family relationships.
