Mid-Century Modern will not return for a second season: co-creator Max Mutchnick announced the comedy’s cancellation in September 2025. So any discussion of what fans hoped to see is necessarily hypothetical. The small sample of viewer reactions available points to three possible wishes: more time with the central friends, more Palm Springs stories, and a stronger visual embrace of mid-century design. Those are individual reactions and editorial interpretations, not a measured fan consensus or a plan for the show.
First, the status of a possible Season 2
As of October 8, 2026, Hulu lists Mid-Century Modern as a one-season series with 10 episodes. In September 2025, co-creator Max Mutchnick announced that it would not return. There is no established Season 2 production plan, release date, plot outline, or revival in the sources cited here. Hulu’s series listing is the place to check the current catalog and availability in your territory.
Mutchnick wrote, “Ten great episodes… Not enough. But we loved making every single one of them. We’re gonna miss our very special show. Thanks to everyone who watched.” UPI reported that the statement accompanied his Instagram post announcing the show’s end. It expresses the creators’ affection for the series, not a promise of more episodes or a preview of unrealized stories. See UPI’s September 30, 2025 report and TVLine’s September 29, 2025 report.
What viewers might have wanted from another season
Online comments surfaced in search results include requests for another season and expressions of interest in seeing more of the cast and ensemble. One commenter also felt the series could make more visible use of mid-century furniture, styling, and architecture. These are anecdotal examples, not a representative survey: there is no cited poll or named statistic measuring demand for Season 2, and the comments do not establish a shared fan agenda.

More of the trio’s chosen-family dynamic
Hulu’s premise brings three gay friends into a shared Palm Springs home after an unexpected death, alongside the wealthiest friend’s mother. That setup gives a hypothetical continuation a natural place to spend more time on the relationships and everyday household tensions among the ensemble. It is a plausible interpretation of viewers wanting more of the cast—not a documented Season 2 storyline. Hulu’s official series description and cast listing identify Nathan Lane as Bunny Schneiderman, Matt Bomer as Jerry Frank, Nathan Lee Graham as Arthur Broussard, and Linda Lavin as Sybil Schneiderman.
More stories rooted in Palm Springs
The setting is part of the show’s premise, so viewers could reasonably hope that additional episodes would make Palm Springs feel more integral to the comedy: not merely the backdrop to the shared home, but a source of new social encounters and conflicts. That is an editorial possibility based on the setting, not a storyline announced by Hulu or the creators.

A more distinctive mid-century visual identity
The design-related comment points to a specific kind of wish: making the furniture, styling, and architecture more visible in the show’s look. That could mean giving the home and its surroundings a more recognizable role in the viewing experience. It remains one commenter’s reaction; the evidence does not show how widely other viewers agreed.
