The Trisha Paytas baby conspiracy theory is an online meme, not a verified claim about reincarnation. It holds that when a famous person dies around the time Paytas is pregnant or has a baby, that person will be reborn as the child. The first widely shared version linked Queen Elizabeth II’s death in September 2022 to Paytas’s first pregnancy. Later versions named King Charles III, Pope Francis, and Ozzy Osbourne. Each one rests on coincidental timing, and none is supported by evidence.
What the theory claims
The premise is a joke with a simple structure: a notable person is reportedly “holding on” or “waiting” so they can return as Paytas’s baby. Know Your Meme, the reference site that tracks internet memes, describes the premise as a lighthearted theory expressed through memes and jokes, and its entry on the topic is the most complete record of how it spread (Know Your Meme, “Trisha Paytas’ Baby Reincarnation Conspiracy Theories”, updated July 23, 2025).
Two features make the joke work. First, Paytas announced pregnancies and births publicly, so the timing is easy to see. Second, the public figures involved are old, ill, or in the news, so a death is always plausible somewhere in the news cycle. The theory treats that overlap as a pattern. It is not one.
How it started
The earliest known joke predates the 2022 viral moment. Know Your Meme identifies a TikTok post from February 16, 2022 that joked Queen Elizabeth II was “holding on” to avoid being reincarnated as Paytas’s baby. Paytas had announced the first pregnancy two days earlier, on February 14.

The idea became widely known in September 2022. Paytas posted that they were one centimeter dilated on September 7. Queen Elizabeth II died on September 8. The coincidence spread across social platforms, and on September 9 Paytas said they were still pregnant and denied that the Queen had been reincarnated in the baby. Paytas’s first child was born September 14, 2022, according to Know Your Meme’s entry on the King Charles version (Know Your Meme, “King Charles Reincarnated as Trisha Paytas’ Second Baby”, updated April 22, 2025).
Later versions
The joke was reused each time a notable death and a Paytas pregnancy or birth fell close together. The sources describe these later rounds as renewed jokes and social-media speculation, not as new facts.
King Charles III (2024)
The Charles version grew in January and February 2024, while Paytas was pregnant with a second child. Know Your Meme links the jokes to news of Charles’s cancer diagnosis. The same entry reports that Paytas expressed exhaustion with the meme, said they hoped Charles would recover, and worried that the jokes were distressing.
Pope Francis (2025)
After Pope Francis died in April 2025, the premise resurfaced while Paytas was expecting a third child. Know Your Meme documents viral posts that revived the reincarnation framing.

Ozzy Osbourne (July 2025)
The Ozzy version is the one most often misreported, because the dates are easy to blur. Paytas announced the birth of a son, Aquaman, and that announcement coincided with news of Ozzy Osbourne’s death, which set off another round of memes. Know Your Meme gives the actual birth date as July 12, 2025 and the death date as July 22, 2025. The child was therefore born ten days before Osbourne died. The comparison was made after the announcement, not because the two events happened on the same day.

These are time-bound counts for single posts. They are not stable totals, and they do not measure the meme’s overall reach.

Paytas’s response
E! News reported Paytas’s reaction on September 9, 2022, in a TikTok response. Paytas said: “I still don’t get the correlation between the two,” and, about the Queen claim, “But I did not have my baby and there is no reincarnation of the Queen in my baby.” Paytas also asked: “Please be kind to my baby. She deserves love and respect.” E! News reported that the attention was unwanted and embarrassing.
Quote these statements with their date and context. They are a denial of the claim, not an endorsement of the meme.

How to describe it accurately
- Call it a meme, joke, or lighthearted conspiracy theory. No source verifies reincarnation.
- Do not say Paytas had given birth when the Queen died. Paytas said on September 9, 2022 that they were still pregnant.
- Do not say Aquaman was born on the day Ozzy Osbourne died. The birth was July 12, 2025, and the death was July 22, 2025.
- Do not present jokes about a public figure’s death or health as predictions. The sources describe speculation, not evidence of cause and effect.

Search phrasings readers use
Readers search for the theory in several ways: “Trisha Paytas baby reincarnation theory,” “Queen Elizabeth reincarnated as Trisha Paytas’ baby,” and “Is Trisha Paytas’ baby Ozzy Osbourne reincarnated?” The last one is a question about a meme, and the answer is no.
