Why is Katy Perry associated with black hair?
She has said she began dyeing her hair black at age 15. In Vogue’s 2013 beauty-routine video, Perry recalled first bleaching her hair blonde at that age, then using box color to go black: “And so I bought a box color, went black and never gone back.” Watch the Vogue video.
Those blonde and black looks were color changes. They do not indicate that either was her natural hair color.

Is her natural shade a specific salon color?
The cited interviews do not establish an exact color-chart level or undertone. “Dishwater squirrel brown” is the most precise description Perry supplied, so assigning a professional shade number would go beyond what those sources support.
