In April 2025, Lil Nas X said he had lost control of the right side of his face. He later said it was improving, but the cited reports do not give an official diagnosis or cause. Bell’s palsy was raised as a possibility in coverage, not confirmed as his condition. The available reporting does not establish his recovery status as of October 8, 2026.
What Lil Nas X said about his face
The Los Angeles Times reported that on April 14, 2025, Lil Nas X posted a selfie video from a hospital bed. In it, he tried to smile and showed reduced movement on the right side of his face. He described having “lost control” of half his face.
The next morning, he posted an update: “It’s getting better y’all, I promise,” the Times reported. That was an update from April 2025; it does not establish how he is doing now.
Did Lil Nas X say he had Bell’s palsy?
No official diagnosis or cause was disclosed in the cited reporting. NBC News reported on April 16, 2025, that Bell’s palsy was a possibility, not a confirmed diagnosis. It would therefore be inaccurate to state that Lil Nas X had Bell’s palsy—or another specific condition—based on these reports.

What facial paralysis can mean in general
Facial weakness or loss of movement can have different causes. Bell’s palsy is one possible cause of weakness on one side of the face, but it cannot be inferred in an individual case from a reported symptom alone. The NHS guidance on Bell’s palsy notes that other causes of facial paralysis exist. This general medical context is not an assessment of Lil Nas X.
When sudden facial drooping may be an emergency
Sudden facial drooping can be a stroke warning sign, particularly when accompanied by arm weakness or difficulty speaking. The NHS advises urgent emergency action for possible stroke symptoms. This warning is general safety guidance and does not suggest that Lil Nas X had a stroke.

Bell’s palsy care is not information about his treatment
The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke describes assessment and treatment options for Bell’s palsy, including steroids and eye protection. Its guidance says oral steroids are generally started within three days of onset to reduce inflammation and increase the chance of recovery. The cited reports do not say that Lil Nas X was diagnosed with Bell’s palsy or received any particular treatment.
