The official announcement is dated March 4, 2026, and it is not yet the complete parade roster. Two university bands are still to be added.

How “high school band” is defined here
The list uses a broader definition than a strict reading of the phrase would give. Three kinds of entry are included:

- Superior Build for Projecting Tone – Features a durable brass body, stainless steel valves, and a phosphor copper leadpipe for enhanced resonance. The 11.80mm bore and 270mm bell work together to produce a warm, balanced tone that projects powerfully in any marching band setting.
- Versatile Mouthpiece Compatibility – Includes both a trumpet and a French horn mouthpiece, offering flexibility for different playing styles. This adaptability makes the JMG-600 a go-to marching mellophone for various ensemble requirements and personal preferences.
- Precision Valves for Reliable Response – Engineered with smooth-action stainless steel valves for quick, fluid, and consistent play. This reliable valve system ensures exceptional control during fast passages and sustained notes, crucial for rehearsals and competitions.
- Durable & Striking Gold Lacquer Finish – The protective gold lacquer finish resists corrosion and adds visual appeal on the field. Combined with an ergonomic design, it ensures lasting beauty and comfort during long parades and halftime performances.
- Standard high school bands are school marching bands listed under a high school’s name. Six entries fall into this group.
- The joint entry pairs Asahi University with Gifushogyo High School in Kyoto. It is included because it names a high school.
- District honor bands are ensembles drawn from students across a school district. The LAUSD All District High School Honor Band is explicitly high-school-only in its name. The Pasadena Unified School District All Star Band is also listed here as a district honor band.
If you want only standard high school marching bands, the answer is six: Blue Springs, Carmel, Rosemount, Clovis, Jonesboro, and Timber Creek. Exclude the joint entry and both district honor bands to get that group.
Why the list is not final
The official announcement says 21 bands are expected in the 2027 parade. It names 19 of them. The remaining two are university marching bands, and they will be chosen only after the participating universities in the 113th Rose Bowl Game are determined in December. Until that happens, the nine high school entries above are the confirmed high school portion of the lineup, but the total count is not settled.

How bands are selected
The Association says bands are chosen by a committee of its volunteer members. The official announcement lists three criteria: musicianship, marching ability, and entertainment or special-interest value.
The official application page adds further guidance. It names uniqueness as a consideration, says bands of any size are welcome, and encourages bands that can perform field-show maneuvers while moving forward. These are stated as application guidance. The page does not say how each criterion is weighted.

- Confirm the parade date. The 2027 parade is January 1, 2027.
- Compare the entry names against the March 4, 2026 announcement. Official names are sometimes longer than the names used locally, such as “The Clovis High School Golden Cougar Marching Band and Color Guard.”
- Look for the two university additions after the Rose Bowl participants are set in December. Those announcements will change the count from 19 named entries to 21.
Lineups for earlier years do not carry over. A band listed for an earlier parade is not on the 2027 lineup unless it appears in the 2027 announcement.
