Spoilers for the Season 4 finale and the completed Season 5. Ashley Barrett ends The Boys Season 4 in immediate danger: Homelander’s purge list includes her, so she injects herself with Compound V. She does not leave with A-Train, and the finale does not establish what power the injection gives her. Ashley returns in Season 5; a finale recap reports that she becomes U.S. vice president and is impeached by the end of the series.
What happened to Ashley in the Season 4 finale?
Homelander orders the Deep, Black Noir, and Firecracker to target Vought employees who possess damaging information about him and the Seven. The Deep notices Ashley is missing from the list and adds her name. When Ashley realizes she has become a target, she rushes to Homelander’s suite and injects herself with Compound V in a desperate attempt to improve her chances of survival. TVLine’s July 20, 2024 interview with actor Colby Minifie discusses the cliffhanger, but does not establish what ability Ashley gains.

Did Ashley take Compound V, and what is her power?
Yes. The Season 4 finale shows Ashley injecting herself with Compound V. It ends before identifying any resulting power, so the injection itself should not be mistaken for confirmation of a specific ability. The immediate post-finale interview likewise left the nature of that ability unknown.
Why didn’t Ashley escape with A-Train?
Ashley had considered leaving the country with A-Train, but when he returns to help her, she does not go. Minifie explained that Ashley fears the uncertain world beyond Vought more than the familiar danger inside it. She also believes that her knowledge makes her vulnerable to being hunted if she flees. That is the actor’s explanation of Ashley’s choice, not a guarantee of what would have happened if she had escaped. TVLine’s interview
