David Flair, Ric Flair’s son, became a prominent WCW wrestler in 1999, appearing in storylines with his father and winning championship gold with Crowbar. He continued wrestling after WCW closed, including in independent promotions and other organizations, but a 2025 retrospective says he had retired by 2009. Recent reporting describes him as living privately; it does not establish his current occupation or day-to-day life.
David Flair’s WCW career
David made his in-ring WCW debut in 1999, teaming with Ric Flair against Curt Hennig and Barry Windham, according to Wrestling Inc. His early career quickly became part of a family-centered storyline: he later helped Hollywood Hogan defeat Ric at SuperBrawl IX. These were scripted wrestling angles, not evidence of a real-life falling-out between father and son.
Another storyline put David in possession of the WCW United States Championship. Ric, then WCW’s on-screen president, stripped Scott Steiner of the title and awarded it to David. The championship change was a booking decision within the show’s fictional world.
Tag team success with Crowbar
David later aligned with Crowbar and Daffney. WWE’s retrospective on Crowbar says David and Crowbar won a one-night tournament for the WCW Tag Team Championship in early 2000. This was a notable championship achievement in David’s WCW run, though it did not lead to a long-term career at the company.

What he did after WCW
After WCW closed, David continued wrestling in independent promotions and appeared in TNA, All Japan, and WWE. A 2025 career retrospective says those were not lasting runs and places his retirement by 2009. Its explanation—that booking, limited experience, and training held back his career—is the retrospective’s interpretation, not an established fact about why he stopped.
Wrestling Inc.’s 2022 retrospective quotes David from a 2009 Wrestling Epicenter interview saying, “I kinda learned backwards,” in reference to being put alongside experienced wrestlers early in his career. The quote is available through that secondary report.
