Colbie Caillat turned a MySpace audience into a record deal, a chart-topping album, and a career that continued well beyond her first hit. “Bubbly” helped introduce her to a wide audience; since then, she has released pop, acoustic, and country-influenced music, performed with the country group Gone West, and continued issuing music as recently as 2026.
How MySpace helped launch Colbie Caillat
Caillat and her collaborators posted songs online, and listeners helped them travel from page to page. The Recording Academy’s 2014 account says “Bubbly” received more than 14 million MySpace plays and that Caillat held the platform’s number-one unsigned-artist position for four months. That attention led to a deal with Universal Republic Records and her debut album, Coco. (The Recording Academy / GRAMMY.com)
Caillat has described the breakthrough as something fans made happen. In a January 2026 interview with Bill Kopp, she recalled that people found the song on someone else’s page and chose to add it to their own, saying, “And they helped build my career.” (Musoscribe interview, January 6, 2026) Her story is not simply that a website made her famous: listeners’ decisions to share the music were central to how it spread.
From “Bubbly” to chart success
Coco and the first major-label hits
Released in 2007, Coco was Caillat’s first album. GRAMMY.com reports that it reached No. 5 on the Billboard 200 and that “Bubbly” peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100. Caillat’s official biography describes Coco as 3× Platinum. (GRAMMY.com; Caillat’s official biography)

Breakthrough and wider recognition
Caillat followed with Breakthrough in 2009. The album reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200, according to GRAMMY.com and her official biography. She also earned Grammy recognition for her contribution to Taylor Swift’s Fearless and for “Lucky,” her duet with Jason Mraz. (GRAMMY.com; official biography)
What she released after her early pop success
Caillat continued releasing albums rather than stopping with her first two. Her catalog includes All of You (2011), Christmas in the Sand (2012), Gypsy Heart (2014), and The Malibu Sessions (2016). She returned to solo releases with the country-influenced Along the Way in 2023; her official biography highlights “I’ll Be Here,” a collaboration on that album with Sheryl Crow. Her time with Gone West
From 2018 to 2020, Caillat was part of Gone West, a country quartet. The Grand Ole Opry’s biography says the group made its Opry debut and that “What Could’ve Been” reached the Top 30 on Country Airplay and earned Gold certification. (Grand Ole Opry biography)
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is Colbie Caillat still making music?
Yes. Her official artist biography and Apple Music catalog list later releases, including the album This Time Around among her 2025 work and a single from 2026. These catalog entries establish continued recording activity through 2026; they do not, by themselves, establish current tour dates. (official biography; Apple Music catalog)
The arc after MySpace is a continuing music career: early pop success, subsequent solo albums, a country-group chapter, and later country-influenced work. The platform helped listeners discover Caillat, but the fans who passed her songs along helped turn that discovery into a career.
