Odeya Rush did not leave acting after playing Fiona in the 2014 film The Giver. She went on to appear in projects including Goosebumps, Lady Bird and Dumplin’, then continued working across film and television. In an April 2026 interview, she discussed her role in Fox’s crime drama Memory of a Killer and recent film projects.
Rush’s career after The Giver
Her post-Giver credits span studio releases, independent films and television. A few recognizable roles show that progression:

What Rush said about choosing projects
In a conversation with friend and former co-star Isabela Merced, published by CULTURED on April 7, 2026, Rush said she considers a project as a whole rather than choosing by genre alone: “I’m not even looking at genre, more the package of the whole movie.” She added, “If I trust the people I’m working with, then I feel like I can bring my best self to the role.”

- Set in the future, a boy suspects that the emotionless, crime free, seemingly perfect world in which he lives may not be as utopian as it appears. In this perfect world where there is no conflict, racism or sickness, every member of this society has a specific role, and 12-year-old Jonas is selected to be the Receiver of Memories. The Giver is an old man who teaches the young boy how to use his gi
Rush also spoke about giving more attention to her health, friendships, dog and family. She said that after work stopped being her sole priority, she noticed more opportunities coming her way. That is her personal account, not a claim that a change in priorities guarantees more work for other actors.
Her plans beyond acting
Rush described an interest in helping develop projects and assemble creative teams around scripts and creators. She said she wants to “amplify women’s voices and different cultures.” The comments suggest an interest in shaping projects as well as performing in them, but do not establish a specific producing credit or a firm slate of future projects.

Where her work stood in 2026
In the same 2026 interview, Rush discussed playing Maria in Fox’s crime drama Memory of a Killer, as well as the films Goodbye Girl and Corporate Retreat. She also said she would like to explore comedy further. The interview establishes that she discussed these projects; it does not, on its own, confirm their release dates or current distribution availability.
For readers interested in the story behind the film that introduced many viewers to Rush, The Giver is based on Lois Lowry’s novel. That connection provides context for the movie, while Rush’s later screen credits show the path her career took afterward.
