How G-Unit began—and who was in it
GQ describes G-Unit as beginning with friends from South Jamaica, Queens: 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, and Tony Yayo. The group’s first studio album was Beg for Mercy. Young Buck later joined the lineup and has said the group’s exposure helped launch his career. When G-Unit returned in 2014, Complex reported that Buck and Kidd Kidd were part of the lineup.

Those phases matter: the founding trio was not the same as every later version of the group. The Game is also described as having a short-term G-Unit affiliation, but the available reporting here does not establish details worth treating as definitive.

In an October 2025 interview with XXL, 50 Cent discussed G-Unit Film & Television, film and television work, and new music. Lloyd Banks: continuing to release music
Apple Music listed Lloyd Banks’s “New York Minute,” dated September 18, 2026, as his latest release when the catalog was accessed on October 8, 2026. The same listing showed other 2026 singles and albums from 2025, indicating that his post-G-Unit path still includes recorded music. Banks previously told GQ in 2022 that he had stepped away from music to focus on family; that is historical context, not a description of his current circumstances.
Tony Yayo: building a presence in media
In coverage of an August 25, 2026 interview, VladTV described Yayo expanding beyond rap into media, including shows such as Feed Yayo. That points to a broader media presence, but it does not establish the current schedule of those shows or the full status of his recording career.

Young Buck: solo career and a reunion attempt
Young Buck’s October 2026 account is the freshest reported development about a possible G-Unit reunion. Complex reported that Buck reached out to Banks and Yayo, did not hear much back, and accepted that his attempt did not go as planned. Buck said, “I went down that road of trying to get us back together… and it just didn’t go the way it’s planned, and that’s okay.”
He also expressed gratitude for what the group had meant to his career: “None of my career would have happened from being exposed to the world the way I was exposed if it wasn’t for G-Unit. So, you know, I’m grateful for that.” These are Buck’s descriptions of his own outreach and perspective; they do not establish why the other members responded as they did or what they intend to do next.
