Petty’s occupation is not documented in the coverage available as of October 2026. Avoid describing him with any of the following labels unless a separate, checkable record supports them:

Where the $500,000 figure comes from
Park Magazine NY reports that a $500,000 net-worth estimate is widely repeated online. The same article states that the number has not been independently confirmed. Celebrity Net Worth publishes its own profile estimate, but that is also a secondary estimate, not a verified balance sheet. Two sites repeating a figure does not make it a measured fact, because the figure’s origin is the estimate itself.

Why the “without Nicki Minaj” question has a specific answer
Readers who search this question usually want to know whether any reported figure describes Petty as an individual. None of the coverage reviewed does. A figure that describes the household, a spouse’s income, or a spouse’s public net-worth profile says nothing reliable about his own assets, debts, or earnings. Park Magazine NY’s report makes the same point by warning against conflating Minaj’s wealth with any independent income Petty may have.

His 2022 California sentence
The Los Angeles Times and The Independent reported that Petty was sentenced in 2022 to home detention and probation for failing to register as a sex offender in California. Pitchfork reported that he had pleaded guilty to the offense, citing federal court records. These are reports of a dated legal outcome. They do not show his current employment or his personal wealth, and a sentence of this kind should be reported with its 2022 date attached.
The 2021 civil complaint
A 2021 complaint filed by Jennifer Hough includes allegations involving Petty and Minaj. A complaint sets out what a plaintiff claims; it is not a court finding on those claims. Any article that mentions the complaint should describe its contents as allegations and should not present them as established facts. Keep these allegations separate from the 2022 conviction and sentence described above.

How to check a future claim about his finances
- Look for a primary record: a court docket, a state business registration, or a financial disclosure that names Petty directly.
- Check whether the source says where its number came from. A figure without a stated method is an estimate.
- Confirm that any income or asset figure belongs to Petty and not to Minaj or to a shared household.
- Note the publication date. Estimates change, and a number from an earlier year may no longer be current.
- Treat a job title as unverified unless it appears in a filing, a company record, or a statement that can be traced to Petty himself.
