Is “actor” gender-neutral?
Yes. The American Association of Community Theatre says that “actor” is increasingly used for performers of any gender, while “actress” remains a familiar term for a woman who acts and is less common in current usage. If you know a performer’s preference, use it; otherwise, “actor” is a clear, inclusive choice. American Association of Community Theatre, Theatre Terms
