Chris Hemsworth’s highest reported single-film paydays are about $20 million each for Thor: Love and Thunder and the Netflix sequel released as Extraction 2. Trade and entertainment publications also reported $15 million apiece for Thor: Ragnarok, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. These are reported figures, not a verified, complete record of his contracts.
Hemsworth’s highest reported movie paydays
The available reports put Thor: Love and Thunder and Extraction 2 at the top, tied at approximately $20 million. The Extraction figure was reported in 2022 while the sequel was still upcoming; it was subsequently released as Extraction 2.
| Film | Reported pay | Context and source |
|---|---|---|
| Thor: Love and Thunder | About $20 million | The Indian Express reported the figure in 2022, attributing it to Variety. The Indian Express |
| Extraction 2 | $20 million | Variety reported in 2022 that Netflix would pay Hemsworth this amount for an upcoming sequel. Variety |
| Thor: Ragnarok | $15 million | Reported by The Indian Express in 2022. The Indian Express |
| Avengers: Infinity War | $15 million | Reported by The Indian Express in 2022. The Indian Express |
| Avengers: Endgame | $15 million | Reported by The Indian Express in 2022; Men’s Health separately repeated the $15 million figure around 2020, citing The Hollywood Reporter. The Indian Express; Men’s Health |
| Thor (2011) | $150,000 | The Indian Express reported this as Hemsworth’s initial salary for the film in 2022. The Indian Express |
Why the figures are not a definitive salary ranking
These are nominal U.S. dollar amounts reported by publications, not independently confirmed contract terms. The sources do not establish a shared accounting definition for each deal, and they do not provide attributable pay figures for every Hemsworth film.
The distinction matters for Extraction 2. Variety’s report describes a Netflix payment for a streaming film and notes that streamers may pay out the equivalent of backend participation upfront. In a theatrical deal, talent may instead receive profit participation only after a film becomes profitable. Those arrangements are not automatically comparable, and the reported fee does not reveal any additional terms that might apply.

Salary is different from box-office gross or annual earnings
A film’s worldwide box-office total does not show how much an actor earned from it. Forbes’ 2019 ranking of Hemsworth films concerns box-office gross, not his salary for each title. Likewise, annual celebrity-earnings estimates cover a period and may include income beyond any one movie; they cannot be used to fill gaps in a film-by-film salary list. Forbes’ box-office ranking; Men’s Health on earnings estimates and salary reporting
The available reporting therefore supports a selection of reported paydays, not an exhaustive ranking of every role or a claim about Hemsworth’s total compensation. It also does not establish a direct confirmation of these individual figures from Hemsworth or Marvel.
