Coverage does not establish why Wendy’s singled her out.
What happened after Katy Perry’s spaceflight?
On April 14, 2025, Perry returned from a New Shepard flight with five other women: Lauren Sánchez, Gayle King, Aisha Bowe, Amanda Nguyen and Kerianne Flynn. Contemporary reports described the flight as lasting about 11 minutes.
Wendy’s official X account replied to a Pop Crave post announcing Perry’s return: “Can we send her back.” That wording is reproduced in contemporaneous reporting; the original post has not been independently verified here.
What else did Wendy’s post?
The account continued the joke with “I kissed the ground and i liked it,” preserving the lowercase “i” as reported. In response to a comment that the flight lasted around ten minutes, Wendy’s wrote: “Don’t short change her it was 11 minutes.” The 11-minute figure is the rounded duration reported in coverage, not a separately verified mission statistic.

Why did Wendy’s target Perry?
The available coverage does not establish Wendy’s reason for singling out Perry, so it is not possible to say whether the reply was prompted by her comments, the flight, or another factor. What is clear is that the account used the return announcement as the setup for a series of jokes.
How did Wendy’s respond to the reaction?
Reactions were mixed: some people treated the exchange as funny, while others criticized its tone. The flight itself also drew debate online, and there was no single consensus about either the trip or the brand’s jokes.
