Lady Gaga and AC/DC vocalist Brian Johnson sing AC/DC’s “Highway to Hell” together in A Carpool Karaoke Christmas, the Apple TV special hosted by Zane Lowe. In the segment, Lowe stops to pick up Johnson, who climbs into the car and joins Gaga for the duet. The clip was reported in a Louder article published December 16, 2024, which is the most specific source available for the moment and the basis for every date below.
Where the duet appears
The duet is part of the full special rather than a standalone release. Louder reported in December 2024 that the special was streaming on Apple TV+ in the United States at the time of publication and would become available globally from Friday, December 20, 2024. Those are statements about that month. They do not establish whether the special is still on Apple TV+ today, or whether it is offered in your country, because regional licensing and catalogs change over time.
Checking availability now
- Open the Apple TV app or Apple TV+ on the web and search for A Carpool Karaoke Christmas.
- If the title does not appear, check the Apple TV+ catalog for your region in your account settings, since the same special may be listed under a different region or not offered at all.
- If you find the special but not the duet, play the episode and scrub to the segment with Zane Lowe’s car ride; the duet is part of that drive rather than a separate video.
The AC/DC connection
The duet has a backstory that Gaga raised herself during the segment. She told Johnson that she had appeared as an extra in the background of AC/DC’s “Stiff Upper Lip” video when she was 17. In her account, she was headbanging in the back of the shoot, and the crew asked her to stop because they wanted the video to look modern. She presented this as her recollection during the special. It is a personal memory shared on air, and it has not been independently checked against production records or the video itself.
What Gaga said on camera
Louder quotes Gaga describing the shoot in these words: “I was 17 and I was an extra in the back. I was headbanging and they were, like, ‘Hmmm. Don’t headbang. We want it to be modern.’ And I was, like, No. There’s only one move that I can do.” The quote comes from a secondary report, not a full transcript, so its punctuation and wording follow that article’s rendering rather than an official caption.

Finding the duet by search
If you are searching for the clip rather than the special, the most useful phrasings are “Lady Gaga sings AC/DC’s ‘Highway to Hell’ with Brian Johnson” and “Watch Brian Johnson and Lady Gaga smash their duet.” Both match the wording of the December 2024 Louder report, so they should return coverage from that period as well as any current listings.
What this article does not establish
No physical release of the duet or the special, such as a CD, vinyl record, or disc, has been identified in the reporting. The Louder report describes a streaming presentation only. Likewise, the report does not supply viewing figures, chart positions, or other performance numbers for the segment, so none are given here.
