Jordan Klepper’s The Daily Show field segment, published April 16, 2024, takes him to the Manhattan courthouse during jury selection in Donald Trump’s first criminal trial. Open the official Daily Show video listing on YouTube; its current playability and runtime have not been confirmed here.
What happens in the segment
Klepper asks people gathered outside the courthouse about Trump’s warning that “all hell” would break loose. In an exchange reported by TheWrap, one woman says she would “slow walk” her chaos, says she was at the Capitol on January 6, and points to her appearance on America’s Most Wanted. TheWrap also recounts a supporter arguing Trump could not receive a fair trial in New York, then saying he would not accept the result of a hypothetical trial in Florida. TheWrap’s April 17, 2024, account describes these moments from the satirical field segment.
The Daily Beast reports that Klepper also speaks with Andrew Giuliani. Its account says the exchange touches on January 6, Rudy Giuliani’s “trial by combat” remark, and whether a guilty verdict would be accepted. Read The Daily Beast’s coverage.
When and where it was filmed
The segment is set outside Manhattan Criminal Court during jury selection for Trump’s first criminal trial. Jury selection began April 15, 2024. TIME reported that about 100 people were gathered outside on that first day, most there to support Trump; that is TIME’s estimate for that day, not a count of Klepper’s interviewees or of crowds across the trial. TIME’s April 15 report provides the courthouse context.

How to interpret the interviews
This is edited political comedy, not a poll. The people Klepper chose to interview cannot establish what Trump supporters generally believed, and the exchanges should be understood as individual responses rather than representative evidence. The clip focuses on reactions to the trial and the possibility of accepting its outcome; it is not a neutral account of the court proceedings.
Behind the scenes: the companion podcast
For production context, The Daily Show: Ears Edition published a behind-the-scenes discussion recorded April 18, 2024. Klepper, supervising producer Ian Berger, and segment director Zach Golden discuss preparing for the shoot and adjusting after finding more media than MAGA supporters at the site. The episode also mentions Andrew Giuliani and the supporter who spoke about January 6 and America’s Most Wanted. It is an audio discussion about making the segment, not the video itself.
