U2 performed “Atomic City” live from Sphere in Las Vegas during the 2024 GRAMMY broadcast. The Recording Academy called it the venue’s first live broadcast. U2 later posted an official video identified as the GRAMMY performance: watch U2’s “Atomic City” 2024 GRAMMYs performance.
Where to watch U2’s “Atomic City” GRAMMY performance
U2’s official channel published a video titled “U2 – Atomic City (2024 GRAMMYs Performance / Live)” on February 23, 2024. The band also announced “Atomic City live from the Sphere in Las Vegas” in a February 17, 2024 news post. Video availability can vary by region.
The Recording Academy’s recap says U2 took the GRAMMY audience to Las Vegas for the performance and describes it as the first live broadcast from Sphere. That distinction refers to the broadcast event, not to the song’s original release or to every video carrying a “Live from Sphere” label.
What “Atomic City” is—and what came before the broadcast
U2 released “Atomic City” as a single on September 29, 2023. The band’s release page credits Jacknife Lee and Steve Lillywhite as producers and lists Sound City in Los Angeles as the recording location. U2 describes the track as a “three-and-a-half-minute homage to the magnetic spirit of the 1970s post-punk era with a nod to Blondie.”

Is the GRAMMY performance the same as the “Live from Sphere” vinyl?
Not established by the available listings. A retailer’s Record Store Day 2024 catalog describes a separate “U2 Atomic City – Live from Sphere” release as a two-track, 10-inch transparent red exclusive. That listing does not identify it as the GRAMMY broadcast recording.
