Was Pine Knob Brian Wilson’s final live performance?
iHeart reported that Wilson’s final live performance took place on July 26, 2022, at Pine Knob Music Theatre in Clarkston, Michigan. It was the last date of his 2022 U.S. summer co-headline tour with Chicago. The reporting establishes the final show in that account; it does not provide a separate, complete chronology of every performance Wilson may have given.
Who performed with him, and what was on the setlist?
Al Jardine and Blondie Chaplin joined Wilson at the Pine Knob performance, according to iHeart. The article says the set contained 20 songs and names “God Only Knows,” “Good Vibrations” and “Surfin’ USA” among the classics played. It does not publish a complete setlist, so those titles should not be treated as an exhaustive account.

Why this performance matters
“California Girls” is one of the Beach Boys’ successful songs, as the Associated Press noted in its June 11, 2025 report on Wilson’s death. The AP described Wilson as a Beach Boys co-founder whose leadership of recording sessions helped shape the band’s sound. The Pine Knob clip therefore captures Wilson performing a song closely associated with the group, during the final tour date identified by iHeart.
Wilson died at age 82, the Associated Press reported on June 11, 2025. His family’s statement, reproduced by iHeart, said: “We are heartbroken to announce that our beloved father Brian Wilson has passed away.”

Is the Pine Knob performance on a CD or vinyl release?
The reviewed reporting does not establish that this specific live performance has an authorized physical release. A Beach Boys greatest-hits album or other catalog release should not be presented as containing the Pine Knob recording unless its edition and track listing confirm that it does.
