Within about an hour, his children Annabelle and Harrison posted on his account that he was taking time away from social media, apologised if the message had caused concern, and thanked people for their support. That clarification is the only explanation of the post that has been reported from the family.
What happened, in order
The sequence matters because the post was published after a bereavement and before the family had said anything about it. The reporting supports the following timeline.
| Date (2024) | What was reported |
|---|---|
| 24 March | Samantha Davis died, aged 53. Warwick later described her as his wife, soulmate, best friend and trusted confidant. |
| 19 April | Warwick publicly announced her death. He said her passing had left “a huge hole in our lives as a family” and wrote, “I miss her hugs.” |
| 21 April | Warwick posted on X: “I’m done here, signing off,” followed by a broken-heart emoji. News reports said followers were concerned by the message in light of the recent bereavement. |
| 21 April, about an hour later | Annabelle and Harrison posted on his account that he was taking some time away from social media, apologised if his last message had caused concern, and thanked people for their love and support. |
Coverage of the announcement and the post was reported by The Independent in 2024, and the children’s message was reproduced in multiple outlets.

- Warwick Davis, on his wife (19 April 2024): “Her passing has left a huge hole in our lives as a family. I miss her hugs.”

- Annabelle and Harrison, on his account: “Thank you everyone for looking out for our Dad, he is taking some time away from social media. He apologises if his last message caused anyone concern. We appreciate all of your love and support, Annabelle and Harrison x.”
Why people were worried, and what the children actually did
The concern came from the timing. A short sign-off from a public figure days after announcing the death of his wife read to many followers as possibly more than a break. The reports describe that worry, but they do not describe any emergency response by police, medical services or others.
The children’s action was narrow. They posted a clarification on their father’s account. They did not, according to the reporting, make any other public statement about his wellbeing. The headline’s word “forces” goes further than the reporting does; the reports describe a clarifying post, not an intervention in the sense of a rescue or a family decision made in public.
What the reports do not establish
The coverage does not say what Warwick meant by the post beyond the explanation his children gave. Nothing in the reporting shows that he intended it as a statement about self-harm, and nothing in it describes his mental state or private circumstances. Readers should treat the children’s account as the only official interpretation available, and take it at that level.
The reports also do not confirm whether the original posts are still visible on X. The quotations above come from press coverage, not from a live check of the account.

Context: the couple’s shared work
Warwick and Samantha Davis met while working on the 1988 film Willow and married in 1991. They co-founded Little People UK in 2012, a support organisation for people with dwarfism and their families. Later coverage reported that the family set up Sammy’s Helping Hands to continue Samantha’s support for younger members of the dwarfism community through Little People UK. Reports from the time did not state a fundraising total, and any current figure should be checked against the charity’s own published accounts before it is repeated.
This background explains why the announcement and the post reached so many people: Warwick and Samantha were known both as actors and as public advocates for the dwarfism community.
