It launched on October 22, 2024, and DC lists Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S as its supported headsets. It is a different game from Batman: Arkham VR, the PlayStation VR title announced in 2016.
What is Batman: Arkham Shadow?
Batman: Arkham Shadow is an Arkham-franchise Batman game developed by Camouflaj and published by Oculus Studios, according to DC’s official game page. Warner Bros. Discovery owns DC, but the announcement is best understood as a new game in the franchise rather than the first Arkham game or the first Arkham VR title.
DC lists the game’s on-sale date as October 22, 2024. It is therefore a released title, not an upcoming announcement.
What headset do you need?
DC lists Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S as the supported platforms. The game is made exclusively for VR, so a compatible headset is required; a different Quest model or a non-VR platform is not listed as supported on DC’s page.

Its October 22, 2024 launch update does not establish today’s price.
What is the story and how does it play?
DC describes a Gotham City under attack over the Fourth of July. Batman must stop the Rat King and his followers from carrying out the so-called “Day of Wrath.” DC also identifies Dr. Quinzel and Dr. Crane before they become Harley Quinn and Scarecrow, alongside Harvey Dent, Ratcatcher, and Jim Gordon.

DC characterizes the combat as Arkham-style and adapted for VR, with familiar gadgets and fighting styles. Camouflaj said it worked to recreate classic Arkham combat and traversal for a VR game, and described the title at launch as strictly single-player. Those are the creators’ descriptions; they are not a substitute for an independent hands-on assessment.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is it the same game as Batman: Arkham VR?
No. Batman: Arkham VR is a separate game announced by Rocksteady in 2016 as a PlayStation VR exclusive. In the June 13, 2016 PlayStation Blog announcement, Rocksteady’s Bill Green described it as “a new Batman story set in the Arkham universe and exclusive to PlayStation VR.” Arkham Shadow is a later, distinct VR game, with Quest 3 and Quest 3S listed by DC as its platforms.
