Warner Bros. has announced Gremlins 3, with an October 8, 2028 theatrical date reported as the studio’s latest schedule. A new Goonies film has also been described as in development, but the available reporting does not give it a release date or confirm a cast or production start. What Warner Bros. has confirmed about Gremlins 3
Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav announced Gremlins 3 on an earnings call in November 2025. The Los Angeles Times reported that Chris Columbus would direct and produce, and Steven Spielberg would return as executive producer. The date reported at the time was November 19, 2027.

What is known about a new Goonies movie
In an interview excerpt reproduced in a media-summary PDF, Warner Bros. Pictures co-chair Pam Abdy said Amblin was developing new entries in the Gremlins and Goonies franchises with Chris Columbus. The statement supports describing a new Goonies project as in development. It does not establish that the film has begun production.

Can you watch the original films while you wait?
Warner Bros. Japan’s official home-entertainment catalog identifies The Goonies as a 1985 U.S. film and lists a 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray set. That listing is for the original film, not the developing project; availability and disc compatibility can vary by market. Current streaming availability for either original is not established here and can change by territory.
