When did WWE introduce the Women’s Intercontinental Championship?
Raw General Manager Adam Pearce announced the creation of the championship on Raw on November 25, 2024, and said a tournament would determine its inaugural champion. WWE’s tournament announcement and preview, published December 1, described the competition as starting the following Monday.
How did the inaugural tournament unfold?
The opening round
WWE’s December 1 preview featured an opening triple threat between Dakota Kai, Katana Chance, and Shayna Baszler. The tournament continued until Lyra Valkyria and Kai emerged as finalists.
The final
WWE previewed the final on January 7, 2025, as a match between Kai and Valkyria. On January 17, WWE reported that Valkyria defeated Kai to become the inaugural Women’s Intercontinental Champion.

Who is the current Women’s Intercontinental Champion?
WWE’s official championship history lists the title as active from 2025. As of the page check on October 7, 2026, its current-champion links identified Raquel Rodriguez. Because titleholders change, use WWE’s live title page to confirm the holder on the day you read this.
