What wet-weather plans were reported for the 2025 festival?
PerthNow’s 30 May 2025 report said the Fremantle event was expected to proceed despite rain and a chance of storms. It described several preparations: the vintage fashion parade was to move from the Bathers Beach boardwalk indoors at Bathers Beach House and Kidogo Arthouse, and attractions at the WA Shipwrecks Museum and Little Creatures were to move indoors. The report also listed a free shuttle every 15 minutes from Fremantle Train Station to Fishing Boat Harbour, starting at 10:30am, and said ponchos would be available on the day. The event was scheduled for 11am–6pm on Monday, 2 June 2025. These were plans reported for that event, not confirmed arrangements for 2026. PerthNow’s report.
Did the 2025 Fremantle festival go ahead?
The report said organisers expected the event to proceed, but the sources cited here do not establish whether it ultimately went ahead as planned. They also do not provide an independently verified forecast for that day. The headline’s weather wording should therefore be read as PerthNow’s description of the forecast at the time, not as current weather information.
When is the next Fremantle WA Day Festival?
As of 8 October 2026, Celebrate WA lists the Fremantle festival for Sunday, 11 October 2026, following cancellation of the original 1 June date due to bad weather. Celebrate WA gives the hours as 11am–7pm; Visit Fremantle lists 11am–6pm. The sources do not explain the difference, so check with the organiser for the confirmed closing time before making plans. Does the 2025 rain forecast apply to October 2026?

Celebrate WA’s general bad-weather guidance says: “Unless the weather is considered dangerous to patrons, the festival events will go ahead whatever the forecast.” It also warns that some activities, including rides and other activities, may not run. This is general guidance, not a confirmation that every activity will operate on 11 October. The organiser says it will post the latest information on its website, Facebook and Instagram. - Alcohol cannot be brought into events, and picnic supplies are not permitted inside licensed bar areas.
- Do not assume the 2025 shuttle, indoor relocations or poncho arrangements will be repeated in 2026; current provision of those services or items is not established here.
WA Day celebrations have faced wider weather-related disruption: a 2025 Western Australian Government consultation paper said Perth celebrations had been disrupted by adverse weather in the preceding three years. It described June as one of Perth’s wettest months and considered moving the public holiday to a lower-rainfall month. The paper cited economic impacts of “almost $23 million in 2019” and “$34 million in 2022” for WA Day events, and said Celebrate WA rescheduled its 2025 metropolitan event to November to coincide with spring weather.
