Visage is a first-person psychological horror game from SadSquare Studio, released on Steam on October 29, 2020. Player reception on Steam is strongly positive for English-language reviews, though the most recent reviews across all languages are mixed. Be aware that “Visage” is also the name of an unrelated design tool and a beauty device, so a search for reviews can return results that have nothing to do with the game.
What Visage is
Steam’s official description reads: “Visage is a first-person psychological horror game.” The listing places the player inside a mysterious, changing house. You explore, pick up key items, interact with the environment, and look for a way out or a way deeper into the nightmare.
The game is built around avoidance rather than combat. The listing states that the player has no weapons to defend against the entities. It also describes staying in the light as one way to avoid losing sanity, so the core loop is about reading the space, managing fear, and moving carefully. If you are looking for a shooter or a melee-driven horror title, this is a different kind of experience.
The store listing places the game on PC through Steam. Pricing by region, other platforms, and any physical edition were not established for this article, so check the Steam store page for current availability and price in your country.

Content warning
Steam’s mature-content notice says the game includes realistic depictions of violence that may be disturbing, along with themes involving alcohol and drug abuse. Steam advises player discretion. Parents, and anyone sensitive to graphic horror imagery, should read that notice before buying.

| Metric (as displayed on Steam) | Value | What it does and does not tell you |
|---|---|---|
| English-language user reviews | 4,061 reviews, 85% positive | Steam user sentiment for English-speaking reviewers, all-time. It is not a critic score. |
| All-language user reviews | 8,785 reviews | Total across every language Steam tracks, all-time. |
| Most recent all-language reviews | 53 reviews, Mixed, 66% positive | A short, recent window. It reflects a small and shifting sample, not the game’s overall verdict. |
The two readings point in slightly different directions. The long-run English sentiment is very favorable, while the most recent batch is mixed. A small recent sample can swing quickly, so the all-time figure is the more stable indicator, but the recent dip is worth noticing if you are deciding whether the game still holds up for new players.
These are Steam user reviews only. They do not represent a critic consensus, and no independent study or publisher statistic on the game’s reception was found.

Reading “Visage” search results carefully
Searching for Visage reviews returns several products with the same name, and mixing them up leads to bad conclusions.
- The G2 listing. G2’s Visage page describes a content-marketing design tool and displays a 3.8 out of 5 rating from 12 reviews. The page’s surfaced review text also includes comments about horror-game atmosphere and inventory systems. That mixed content makes the page unreliable for judging either product, so neither the score nor the comments should be treated as a verdict on the game.
- The beauty device. A separate storefront sells a beauty product under the same name. It has no connection to the game.
- Community threads. Discussion titles such as “Opinions on Visage?” and “Visage worth a play?” show that players ask the same questions you are asking. These threads are informal and are not a survey, but they are useful for seeing which aspects of the game people argue about.
When you read a review, confirm that it mentions the first-person house, the sanity mechanic, or the Steam release before you give it weight.

Is Visage worth playing?
Whether the game suits you depends on what you want from a horror game. The decision comes down to a few questions.
- Do you want slow, atmospheric exploration? The game is built around searching, item gathering, and avoiding threats. If that sounds tedious, the Steam sentiment will not change your mind.
- Can you cope with disturbing violence and mature themes? The content notice applies in full. Skip the game if those themes are a problem.
- Are you comfortable without weapons? The design removes combat, so tension comes from avoidance and the search for escape routes.
- Does the recent mixed sentiment matter to you? If you value the long-run reception more, the all-time English figure of 85% positive is the stronger signal. If you want to know whether the most recent players are still enjoying it, check the latest reviews on the Steam store page at the time you read this.
