Universal now lists the next Fast & Furious film as Fast Forever, and Film Stories reports that Vin Diesel announced a March 17, 2028 release date. But Universal’s listing does not give a date, and the available sources do not establish whether filming has begun or whether that date still stands. The latest specific production-status report cited here is from July 2026, when TheWrap said the film was not in production.
What is confirmed about Fast Forever?
The clearest current name is Fast Forever: that is the title on Universal’s upcoming-movies page. Fast X: Part 2 and Fast & Furious 11 remain useful descriptions of the follow-up, but Universal’s slate uses Fast Forever.

The release date needs a separate qualification. Film Stories reported on October 6, 2026 that Diesel announced March 17, 2028. The Universal listing checked for this update confirms the title, not the date. The date is therefore a reported announcement, not a release date independently confirmed by the studio page.
Has filming started?
The most concrete report about production is dated July 7, 2026. TheWrap reported that a video of Diesel appearing on a set was for a World Cup promotion, not evidence that the sequel had entered production. TheWrap said the movie was not then filming.

That report describes the situation in July, not the film’s status today. The sources cited here do not verify whether production has started since then, and Universal’s upcoming-movies page does not provide a filming update. The video should not be used as proof that principal photography began.
Why is another Fast & Furious film expected?
The sequel follows the unresolved danger at the end of Fast X. Universal’s synopsis for the 2023 film says Dante seeks revenge on Dom’s family and makes Dom’s eight-year-old son his ultimate target. That setup leaves the family’s conflict with Dante poised for a continuation, but it does not by itself confirm a production schedule.
