The list was a report of her personal preferences—not medical advice or confirmation that the plan was followed.
What Veruca Salt reportedly requested
PerthNow reported that Salt, identified in the coverage as Kimberley Summer Hartley, posted a list of 15 preferences for the birth. It quoted her Instagram story as saying, “I WANNA PULL THE BABY OUT”. The original story was not directly available in the reporting, so these details are best understood as preferences attributed to her by the outlets, rather than independently verified statements.
PerthNow’s summary included requests to receive an epidural without seeing the needle, do everything possible to avoid a C-section, have her hair braided, and have snacks and her favorite Starbucks drinks available. She also reportedly wanted the baby cleaned within five minutes, delayed cord clamping, and to leave hospital alive with a healthy, living baby. At the time, PerthNow described her as 24 and reported that she had 153,000 Instagram followers; those are figures from the 2023 report, not current totals.

BANG Premier additionally reported requests for gas and air, wearing her own clothes or nothing, allowing students to observe but not help, and not being told if she defecated during labor. It also mentioned delayed cord clamping and wanting the baby to remain in the room.

These were personal preferences, not a clinical plan
The reports describe what Salt reportedly wanted, not what clinicians agreed to or what happened during the birth. Preferences about pain relief, delivery, cord clamping, and newborn care depend on individual circumstances and clinical judgment; the list should not be read as guidance for another person’s labor.
What happened after the 2023 report
The birth-plan story belongs to 2023 and should not be mistaken for a current pregnancy update. In February 2024, 7NEWS reported that Salt’s six-week-old son, Cash, had died in his sleep. That later report does not establish any connection between his death and the birth preferences reported in 2023.

PerthNow reported in March 2026 that Salt had announced another pregnancy. On September 29, 2026, the outlet reported that she had given birth to twins, Storm and Zion, on September 26. Those later events are separate from the 2023 Instagram-story report.
